Pawnee's Parks

From Founders' Park to the greenway along the Wamapoke, here's every park the department maintains — some more finished than others.

City-Wide

Five parks, one very long pit-to-park story

Pawnee's park system ranges from a fully renovated flagship to a greenway that's still mostly a promise. Here's the current state of each.

Flagship

Founders' Park

Formerly known to most of Pawnee as "the Pit." Years of construction, budget hearings, and one very determined Deputy Director later, it's now a fully finished park with a walking path, footbridge, and open lawn.

Established

Ramsett Park

Home to the city pool, youth sports fields, and most of the department's summer programming. The busiest park in Pawnee by a wide margin, especially during swim season.

Mixed Use

Lot 48

A small mini-golf course sitting on a lot whose ownership and purpose have both changed more than once. Currently recreational; historically, contested.

Sponsored

Sweetums Field

A youth baseball diamond funded by, and named after, the Sweetums Candy Factory. Concessions are, unsurprisingly, extremely well stocked.

In Progress

Wamapoke River Greenway

A planned walking and biking trail along the river, currently about sixty percent complete. Has been "currently sixty percent complete" for a while now.
