Est. 1817 City of Pawnee

Department 04

Planning & Zoning

Permits, zoning variances, and the steady stream of small-business proposals that come through this office, several of which originate from the same Parks Department desk.

What We Do

Permits, variances, and paperwork

Planning & Zoning reviews land use, business permits, and construction proposals for the city of Pawnee, including a memorable multi-year review of a certain government-owned pit.

Permits

Business Licensing

New business applications reviewed on a rolling basis. Popular categories this year include entertainment consulting and premium loungewear.

Land Use

Zoning Variances

Requests to rezone public land for private or mixed use are reviewed by committee, then argued about at length during public forums.

Construction

Building Permits

Reviews and approves construction projects citywide. Average approval time has improved significantly since the Pit finally closed out.
